WACF recognizes racial equity as a priority in preventing families from entering foster care, improving the disproportionality of foster families and reducing the number of youth of color in group care that create discriminatory practices in the child welfare system. These systems routinely produce racially poor outcomes for people of color.
We are dedicated to improving practice to eliminate racism within the child welfare system. WACF commits to providing technical assistance, training and innovative practice that supports practice improvement.
Washington Fosters is an initiative of the Washington Association for Children & Families (WACF). By working with advocates, agencies, and non-profit organizations in Washington State and beyond, Washington Fosters is developing clear resources and helpful tools for those considering becoming foster parents.
